It’s been a while since I’ve done a proper seasonal shop but being in Paris has changed the way I feel about shopping in-stores. I’ve really been enjoying just window shopping, seeing what different seasons are bringing into stores, and spending time touching and trying on clothes.
I’ve been doing quite a lot of browsing for F/W 26 so I wanted to share some of the standouts. I’ve since made it a goal to wander more and try to find stores and brands that aren’t as well known so there may be another dispatch coming soon!!
This one mainly focuses on coats (looking specifically at composition), loafers, and sweaters. I have also been considering my next bag purchase so I included those as well. But I hope this helps you find some good quality items for this fall/winter!
What I tried
Coats & jackets
I actually sold all of my wool coats leading up to my move because I realized there were small things that I disliked about each of the coats I owned. So I moved to Paris knowing that a new coat would be something I’d budget for this winter.
My requirements seemed simple but proved more difficult to fulfill than I thought. I was looking for a coat with at least an 80% wool composition, had a stylish fit, but would be timeless enough that I could keep it forever.

Soeur James coat (top left) - I liked the funnel neck design and the way the coat fits. It’s 70% wool and 30% cashmere so the fabric is quite soft and drapey. This would’ve been my top contender if only it came in black! They charcoal grey was lovely but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. I think the brown version is even nicer but I was specifically hunting for a black coat.
Germain coat (top right) - which has a more stylish men’s wear cut but can still be buttoned up for a smaller funnel neck. I did really like how this coat fit but the composition was just shy of what I wanted for this price tag so I also ended up passing on this one.
The Frankie Shop Gaia coat - I’ve had this one on my shop-list for a while but I’m super glad that I tried it on first. It has a similar oversized menswear fit as the Germain coat, but it actually felt like slightly too much fabric when I had tried it on. I’ve seen it look amazing on other people but the proportions just didn’t make sense for my body. The composition is 80% wool and 20% polymide though but sadly I let her go as well.
Nikola padded trench - Vernice (bottom left) tried this on and it was a beautiful piece if you’re looking for more of a trench style coat. It’s actually 95% wool and 5% cashmere which I think makes it well worth the price.
Sweaters
COS Cashmere Sculpt Turtleneck - Actually really loved this sweater but didn’t love the price tag. The cashmere is lovely but craftsmanship around the turtleneck could’ve been better for 199 eur.
COS Wool Round Neck Sweater - Honestly still a classic and I love the length. May go back to this one at some point!
Massimo Dutti Cashmere Cardigan - This dark olive was really speaking to me but there was no way I was paying 280 eur for it. It was really soft through I will admit.
Bags
Fendi Peekaboo - Fendi actually brought back the more classic vintage details of the Peekaboo in this year’s release but the one change that I think makes all the difference is that they added an adjustable strap. While I was originally planning on buying it vintage, having the top strap be adjustable so that you can wear it as a shoulder bag really is a gamechanger.
Balenciaga East West City - This is SUCH a sexy bag but too trendy for me to spend this much money on. But if I could… I definitely would. 552
Le Tanneur Mathilde Re-edition - I got invited to the Le Tanneur showroom during PFW to check out their F/W collection and to preview S/S. I have yet to see this one on their site but this is a beautiful re-edition of their classic Mathilde bag. Absolutely obsessed with everything about this bag.
Balenciaga Rodeo in Khaki - I actually went in to try the Rodeo bag in black but this color kind of stole my heart. This one has officially moved up my wishlist.
Le Tanneur Emie Medium - The Emie bag has been popular on social media for a few seasons now but this deep chocolate brown version really takes the cake.
Le Tanneur Men’s bag (coming in Spring) - One of the pieces from Le Tanneur’s S/S Men’s collection that I now have my eye on. It’s the dreamiest slouchy version of their XL Emie bag and the buckle detail really just does it for me.
Shoes
High Heel Ballerina - If I didn’t have my Tabi ballerinas, I would probably buy these. Actually, I might still. The leather is SO soft and I can already tell these will be one of the comfiest heels I own. Great price for the quality too.
Leather Penny Loafer - Really like that the toe box is slightly wider on these—they feel very studious for reason I can’t quite name. Again, the leather was perfection.
Soft Leather Mules - I almost took these home with me but decided last minute I didn’t LOVE the toe shape. I wish it was a bit more pointy rather than squared off.
Heeled Leather Canvas Loafer - The store I visited didn’t have my size in these but I might order these online. They look so great with jeans but the mule style could be a fun visual aspect for dresses as well. They remind me of a pair of Bally loafer mules that my mother had when she was young.
What I’m eyeing online
Marge Sherwood Soft Grandma Bag - Definitely having a moment for east west bags recently and I love the soft butter yellow here.
Flore Flore Steffi Long sleeve - Haven’t tried anything from Flore Flore but I’ve heard great things about their basics. Love the neckline and they also come in great colors.
Reformation Olina Cropped Pants - I’ve had several colors of these in my wishlist now but I think this silvery one would be lovely for Fall. They have a gorgeous purple as well but it’s just not my color.
COS Round Neck Cashmere Sweater - LOVE the dark grey colour and the drape of this cashmere sweater. Definitely a closet staple.
Brooke Callaghan Tie Pants - Another pair of pants that has lived in my wishlist for years in multiple colors. Thinking of order this green as a pop of color but LOVE the red, blue and brown pairs as well.
St. Agni Woven Tote - This may be the fall I finally purchase the St. Agni woven tote. Still deciding between the medium (pictured) or the large to use as a work bag.

14: Finding a routine in Paris
It’s officially September and I’ve been seeing sweaters and jackets come back onto my feed but Paris is still feels like summer and I’m not mad about it. I love a good layering piece, don’t get me wrong, but I’m definitely not rushing the summer sunset.

At some point this year, I started to really psyche myself out about writing on Substack. I still can’t quite pin point what the feeling is (fear? anxiety? nerves?), but I think it relates to feeling like I should be way clearer about my throughline.
