5 Things — no.3
Well, it's officially t-minus 1.5 months until the end of the year. Yes yes, I know. Angel, stop reminding us of how quickly time is passing. But it's hard not to think about it!
These past couple of months I've been trying to implement more balance. Balance in work, my relationships, taking care of myself, fitness, etc. I think I'm learning that balancing everything, all the time, is impossible. You just have to set the intention to put one foot in front of the other, every single day, and do your best.
While we're all working away on that, here are 5 things that have caught my attention lately.
1. A book I loved. After DNF-ing (did not finish) All The Lights We Cannot See, I was feeling a bit skeptical about historical novels. But this one had excellent reviews, so I decided to try it. I've also always loved greek mythology and I'm glad I ended up giving The Song of Achilles a try.
This was an amazing story of love, friendship, honor, family, and pride. With a light (or generous) sprinkle of LBGTQ. I totally understand why this book got such incredible reviews. If you haven’t read it yet, please go check it out.
2. A tool for fashion creators. A lot of users use LTK (Like To Know It) to link their outfits for affiliate purposes (I still do too!). But I recently found ShopStyle Collective which also seems like a great tool, especially if you still have a blog or website. You can easily embed collections of links in a beautiful, shoppable way onto any web page. See an example on my blog here.
3. A mic for vloggers. Rode seems to be the brand that most creators lean toward but I wanted to find an option that was more affordable since I wouldn’t be using it all the time. After watching a couple of review videos, seems like the Comica video microphone is a great mini mic option for smaller vlogging cameras. Definitely more affordable than the Rode one as well.
4. A recipe I absolutely loved. A couple of years ago, I purchased the cookbook created by Pino Posteraro, chef of Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill. It’s my favourite restaurant in Vancouver and when I found out there’s a cookbook, I knew I had to have it. One of the dishes I always order is their Veal Pappardelle. Luckily, this is one of the dishes on the menu so I decided to give it a try. Although the ingredients take a bit of hunting for, it was well worth it. Found the recipe online as well if you want to give it a try.
5. An account I’m inspired by. I’ve been feeling inspired and creative lately, and it’s translated into many different areas of my life. One area that I’ve been putting more time and effort into is cooking. I’ve always loved cooking, and it’s been my favourite thing to make time for lately. I followed @justines.table recently and have just been in love with her content. If you’re looking for good food content, she’s the one to go to.
I hope you’re having a lovely and cozy November. As always, thanks for being here.
